App to track Wi-Fi signal and internet speed over time?

I’m looking for an app that can help me understand why my connection randomly gets bad.

Ideally I’d like something that can log signal strength and internet speed over time, maybe export the results as CSV. I don’t really want it constantly hammering a speed test server though, because I still need to use the connection normally.

Main thing I want to catch is: signal looks fine, then calls start breaking up or pages stop loading, and I have no idea if it’s Wi-Fi, router, ISP, or my phone.

Any app recommendations?

Try WiFiman. It’s probably the first thing I’d check for basic signal/network info.

@FigureOute_next I actually tried WiFiman, but maybe I’m just dumb because I got a bit lost in it. There are a bunch of screens and numbers, and I’m not really sure what I’m supposed to watch. I just want to know if the signal is dropping or if the internet itself is unstable.

Then you might like NetSpot better. It’s more beginner-friendly but still functional. You can check Wi-Fi signal strength, see nearby networks/channels, and run a speed test without feeling like you opened a network engineer’s cockpit. For full 24/7 background logging with SIM signal and CSV export, you may need a more specific monitoring app. But for “is my Wi-Fi actually bad here?” NetSpot is easier to read.

Be careful with apps that “monitor speed 24/7.” If they do it by running constant speed tests, they’ll burn battery and bandwidth, and they can make the problem worse while measuring it. Very scientific. Like checking if your floor is clean by dumping soup on it. For your case I’d separate the tests:

Wi-Fi signal/channel check
router/ISP stability check
actual speed tests only occasionally

@Quantum_Fluke hanks, NetSpot is exactly what I was looking for.
