Luna runs terrible on 2.4 GHz HELP

Games on Amazon Luna are freezing and blurry on an old Chromebook at 30 Mbps over a 2.4 GHz network. Despite the 300 Mbps plan, the signal is weak because the router is on a different floor. Is this bandwidth sufficient for the service, or is the issue related to the wireless connection?

30 Mbps should be enough bandwidth for Luna. Amazon only calls for a sustained 10 Mbps for 1080p, so I’d be looking more at the WiFi itself. Try 5 GHz if the signal reaches the room, check for a less congested channel, or Ethernet if that’s an option. I use NetSpot to see what channels the networks around me are using. Helped a lot in my apartment because everybody and their dog was sitting on the same 2.4 GHz channels.

@auto.loser Didn’t even think about the channel part. There are a ridiculous number of WiFi networks showing up here, so that could actually make sense. I’ll check it tonight.

Cloud gaming cares way more about a stable connection than a nice-looking speedtest number. You can have 100 Mbps and still have a miserable time if latency/jitter/packet loss keeps jumping around. Also don’t start by lowering every graphics setting. If the network is the problem, making the picture uglier isn’t really fixing it.

@auto.loser Okay, tried 5 GHz and it’s already noticeably better.
