I’m losing my mind with this. GeForce NOW keeps stuttering every few seconds. Not huge disconnects, just constant little freezes that make shooters basically unplayable. It started as a once-in-a-while thing, but over the last month it got worse.
I mostly play Battlefield and Apex. The actual game FPS looks okay, but the stream feels like it hiccups. My internet speed test looks fine:
Download: around 400 Mbps
Upload: around 90–100 Mbps
Ping: usually under 10 ms
Fiber connection
Is there anything obvious I’m missing, or is GeForce NOW just being weird?
Open the GeForce NOW overlay with Ctrl+N while it’s happening. Don’t just look at your speed test. Look for packet loss, streaming FPS drops, and latency spikes. If game FPS stays fine but stream FPS/packet loss goes crazy, it’s your connection path, not the game. Cloud gaming cares way more about consistency than “big number speed test”.
@XN_doctorX_11 I didn’t know Ctrl+N showed that much. I only ever checked normal speed tests and assumed 400 Mbps meant I was good. I’ll try it during a match tonight.
If you on Wi-Fi, start there. Fast Wi-Fi can still be bad Wi-Fi for game streaming. You can have 400 Mbps download and still get jitter spikes every few seconds because of interference, roaming, power saving, channel congestion, whatever. Run a continuous ping to your router while you play. If it sits at 1–3 ms and then randomly jumps to 80/200/whatever, that’s what you’re feeling.
Buy or borrow a USB-C to Ethernet adapter and test wired.
If you still need to use Wi-Fi most of the time, check the wireless environment instead of changing random GFN settings. Use NetSpot or another Wi-Fi analyzer
This is the classic cloud gaming trap.
