I keep getting slammed with tickets about random Wi-Fi drops in our newly opened office wing. Zoom calls freeze, and connection speeds are terrible. The problem is, our network controller shows that the APs are up and running, so on paper, everything looks fine to upper management.
Management thinks it’s just users complaining for no reason and they don’t want to approve the budget for additional hardware or cabling. I know for a fact that the physical layout (lots of glass and concrete) is killing the signal, but I need a way to visually lay it all out for them.
Is there an easy way to generate a clear, visual map or report that shows the exact dead zones? I need something dead simple that a non-technical director can look at and immediately understand why we need to move or add APs. Thanks!
Look into doing a Wi-Fi site survey. You can’t argue with data. If you map out the actual signal propagation on top of your office floor plan, you will have concrete proof to show your directors. The choice of tools is vast and depends on your budget. If your company is spending money, go with Ekahau. But keep in mind that you’ll have to sell a kidney to your CFO to buy it.
@Training-Today9031 So what tool should I use for this visualization? Is there something affordable but functionally sound, so I don’t have to shell out for Ekahau?
