About the Wi-Fi Heatmaps & Coverage category

Visualize your signal! Share and analyze your heatmaps, identify dead zones, and get expert feedback on your wireless coverage and signal distribution.

Category Guidelines

  • Why use this category? This is the visual heart of our community. This category is for users who have completed a survey and want to dive into the results. It’s the place to share your heatmaps, ask for help reading signal density charts, and confirm whether your “green zones” are actually performing as they should. If you want to know what your Wi-Fi looks like, this is the spot.

  • How exactly is this different than the other categories we already have? While * Wi-Fi Site Surveys is about the action of walking and collecting data, this category is about the interpretation of that data. It differs from * Wi-Fi Troubleshooting because it looks at the big picture of coverage across a whole floor plan, rather than diagnosing a single broken device or a specific error code.

  • What should topics in this category generally contain? To get the best analysis of your coverage, topics should include:

    • The Map: A screenshot of your heatmap (Signal Level, SNR, or SIR).

    • The Legend: Ensure your scale (e.g., −30 dBm to −90 dBm) is visible so we can read the values correctly.

    • The Goal: What is the primary use of the space? (e.g., “Need 5GHz coverage for a home office” or “Testing 2.4GHz for outdoor IoT cameras”).

    • The Environment: Mention if there are specific obstacles shown on the map, like heavy machinery or server racks.
