About the Wi-Fi Interference category

Cut through the noise! Identify and fix signal congestion caused by neighboring networks, household appliances, and physical barriers to clear up your connection.

Category Guidelines

  • Why use this category? This is the place to deal with the “invisible enemies” of your wireless network. Use this category if you suspect your signal is being stepped on by other routers (Co-Channel Interference) or if physical objects and electronic devices (like microwaves or baby monitors) are causing your connection to stutter. It’s for anyone struggling with a noisy environment where signal strength looks “fine,” but performance is poor.

  • How exactly is this different than the other categories we already have? Unlike * Wi-Fi Troubleshooting, which covers general bugs and “no internet” errors, this category focuses specifically on Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) issues. While * Wi-Fi Design is about planning for the future, * Wi-Fi Interference is about diagnosing the environmental factors—both logical (channel overlaps) and physical (radio frequency noise)—that are currently degrading your airtime.

  • What should topics in this category generally contain? To help our community identify the source of the noise, please provide:

    • The Surroundings: Are you in a crowded apartment complex or a secluded house?

    • Suspected Culprits: Mention any nearby electronics or thick walls (mirrors, concrete, metal).

    • Data Points: If you’re using NetSpot, share your Signal-to-Noise or Signal-to-Interference heatmaps.

    • Channel Info: Which channel are you currently on, and how many other networks do you see on that same channel?
