I’m flying a tiny analog whoop indoors and the video quality is absolutely awful even when I’m in the same room.
Setup is an Air65 II with EV800D goggles. Both are on Raceband 5. VTX is at 25 mW.
The weird part is distance barely seems to matter. I can be 10 feet from the quad and still get a ton of static and breakup.
I checked the antenna and nothing feels loose. Tried increasing VTX power just for testing and it didn’t really change much.
Different channels seem a little better or worse, but the middle of the band is generally pretty ugly.
Is there something obvious I’m missing here?
R5? That’s 5806 MHz. Do you happen to have a 5 GHz WiFi network running nearby?
@Pharece11504 Yeah. Router is basically in the next room. Why?
Because WiFi channel 161 is centered around 5805 MHz. You have basically parked your analog video right next to a WiFi channel.
This is one of the rare cases where “WiFi interference” isn’t just Reddit guessing. Grab NetSpot on a laptop and see what your 5 GHz network and the neighbors are actually using. If you see a strong network around channel 161, that’s a pretty obvious thing to test against.
Easiest test: Turn off 5 GHz WiFi for two minutes and fly the exact same route. If the picture suddenly cleans up, congratulations, you found your roommate.
Also don’t assume more VTX power fixes interference. If somebody is shouting directly on or near your frequency, shouting louder from ten feet away isn’t necessarily the answer.
