Colleagues, please recommend software for testing WLAN. After the office network refresh, I want to test real throughput, not just RSSI.
I need iPerf support (I’ll be connecting to an internal server) and the ability to flexibly configure test parameters.
Take a look at NetSpot. They have a full-fledged Active Scanning mode. Just what you’re looking for: it supports iPerf3 over TCP and UDP. In the settings, you can enter your server address, set the port, test duration, buffer size, and even the number of parallel threads. If you don’t want to mess with iPerf, they also have regular HTTP tests, which are simpler.
Yes, I use this app too. I like that you can customize the measurement parameters. NetSpot is quite flexible in this regard: they integrate with iPerf for in-depth LAN analysis, plus you can test via HTTP/TCP/UDP. For proper Wi-Fi reception in the office, this is a must-have, and “one-button” tests are best left for home.
@Repulsive_Trade303 Oh, that’s much more to the point! It’s always the same story: everyone points to the map and says, ‘Well, the coverage is excellent!’ and then no one can explain why the network is barely breathing in two conference rooms. The ability to test directly through the internal iperf3 and tweak the settings myself is a hundred times more useful than running some Speedtest from the internet again.
