I have two Apple TV 4Ks in different rooms and both of them constantly drop off WiFi.
They’ll be streaming normally, then suddenly lose the connection and whatever I’m watching stops. If I go into Settings and reconnect, they connect immediately… then sometimes drop again 10 minutes later.
What’s confusing me is everything else seems fine. My phone has full WiFi bars in both rooms and my Xbox can stream for hours without an issue.
So far I’ve tried forgetting/rejoining the network, rebooting the router and making sure both Apple TVs are updated.
At this point I’m getting tired of reconnecting them every night.
Anything obvious I should be checking?
What router are you using? Two Apple TVs doing exactly the same thing makes me suspicious of the network/settings before I’d blame both devices.
@Dr.RichardBurke Just the ISP router right now. Nothing fancy. I haven’t really changed any WiFi settings on it.
Could still be signal, but router settings/channel behavior would definitely be on my list too.
Before changing a bunch of settings, check the actual signal where the Apple TVs are. If you have a laptop, NetSpot’s free analyzer is enough. Put the laptop as close as possible to each Apple TV and look at the RSSI instead of judging it from your phone’s bars. -40 dBm is great. Once you’re getting down around -70, things can get pretty flaky.
@Alacran_X_00 My phone shows full bars right next to both TVs though.
Your phone isn’t the Apple TV. Different radio, different antenna placement, plus those bars are pretty vague anyway. If the laptop beside the TV is already showing weak signal, that tells you something useful.
